Building Resilience Through Disaster Preparedness
Considering the ongoing healthcare crisis in Sri Lanka, Good Neighbors Sri Lanka (GNSL) is committed to enhancing disaster preparedness and building community health resilience. Recognizing the urgent need for medical supplies, GNSL has successfully secured vital medicine donations from international partners, significantly alleviating shortages faced by the Ministry of Health. This proactive approach ensures that essential medications reach those most in need, addressing critical gaps in healthcare services during this challenging period.

Good Neighbors Sri Lanka (GNSL) secured essential medicine donations from international partners, providing much-needed supplies to the Ministry of Health during severe shortages. Additionally, GNSL promoted community resilience by delivering first aid training to students in Kebithigollewa, establishing a school-based first aid unit to offer ongoing support and emergency readiness. These initiatives reflect GNSL’s commitment to aiding vulnerable communities with essential healthcare and emergency preparedness resources.
“Before GNSL provided us with first aid training, our response to emergencies at school was chaotic, often leading us to panic and seek help without knowing what to do first. After participating in two training programs, I now feel confident as the president of our school’s first aid team. We’ve learned how to effectively handle minor emergencies and make initial arrangements before getting serious cases to the hospital. This training has not only empowered me as a leader but has also greatly improved the safety of our school community. Thank you, Good Neighbors, for these invaluable opportunities.”
