Strengthening Community Partnerships & Networks
Good Neighbors Sri Lanka (GNSL) has developed a robust community-based network structure that empowers local Village Development Societies (VDS) and Community Development Committees (CDC) to take an active role in project planning and implementation.

Good Neighbors Sri Lanka (GNSL) has established a strong community-based network system that includes various Village Development Societies (VDS) and Community Development Committees (CDC). These structures actively participate in planning and implementing project interventions, ensuring community involvement. Regular capacity development activities, including refresher training on bookkeeping, community needs assessment, and basic counseling procedures, enhance the skills of community members. Additionally, GNSL has formed subcommittees focusing on specific areas like water and child rights, empowering them to manage resources effectively. The organization also facilitates child protection meetings and networks with civil society organizations to strengthen collaboration and improve service delivery at the national level.
“Thanks to Good Neighbors International, Sri Lanka, the Anuradhapura District Annual CSO Progress Meeting brought together Civil Society Organizations in a collaborative environment. This meeting was crucial for fostering cooperation among NGOs, allowing us to share updates on our ongoing projects and discuss the challenges we face. The insights provided by a prominent figure in the NGO sector were invaluable, highlighting both current challenges and opportunities within our district. The open forum enabled us to brainstorm collective solutions, setting the stage for strengthened partnerships. This meaningful exchange of ideas and resources will undoubtedly enhance our collective efforts to address the development needs of Anuradhapura District.”
